The Cherry barb is an ideal fish for the beginner as it can tolerate a wide range of water parameters. It is peaceful, active and colourful. Like all barbs, the temptation of long fins can get the better of them but they tend not to do too much damage. They like a planted tank with shady hiding areas and plenty of swimming space.
Special Requirements -  This is a schooling barb and should be kept in groups of 6 or more. They can be shy, especially if the aquarium is too light and open.
Tanks Mates and Compatibility – The Cherry barb can make an ideal small community fish. It will mix with most other fish of a similar size.
