The Ember tetra is one of the smallest tetras. They are a hardy little fish with lovely colouration that contrasts beautifully with the plants in a community aquarium. They are also a perfect company for many shrimps. in smaller tanks.

It is a school fish, like most Tetra, and should be kept in a groups.

Current Size – 2cm - 2.5cm

Adult Length – 2.5cm

Temperature Range – 24 - 27 °C

pH Range – 6.0 – 7.5

Tanks Mates and Compatibility - Very peaceful and will not  compete well with very boisterous or much larger tankmates.

In a community it’s best kept with similarly-sized, peaceful characids, smaller callichthyid or loricariid catfishes and sedate surface-dwellers such as hatchet fish

In a more general community set-up it can be combined with smaller rasboras, barbs, anabantoids, etc.

It’s gregarious and naturally forms schools meaning a minimum of 8-10 specimens is the recommended purchase since the fish will be less shy and display more interesting behaviour.
